The Ducklings and Bill Bryson

Hello there!

Today is Christmas in my country (so I suppose to be in the rest of the world, lol), but I'm not really a religious person, so I'm not really celebrating it. The only thing I celebrate today is that Team Focata (my TF2 clan) has a new game server. If you play TF2, add this IP to your favourites:

But today I don't want to talk about TF2 (the last two weeks have been exciting enough). Today I'm talking about University.

Exams have started for un poor students of T&I. The first we did was an English reading exam about one of these two books from Bill Bryson: Notes from a Big Country or Notes from a Small Island. I chose the latter.

OVERTIME: The War Update, released!

Hi everyone! This has been an exciting week for TF2 players. I commented and recommended to follow the War Update of TF2, even if you didn't play the game, because it has been simply amazing. I know you ignored my advice, so I'm going to summarize the whole week in this tiny itsy bitsy post. Click all the links for more info (preferibly opening them in another window/tab).

The War Update presented the end of the friendship between the Demoman and the Soldier. As every TF2 update, it presented three new weapons for both characters, plus a fourth special weapon for the one who won the war. During the week, literally millions of Demomen and Soldiers perished, winning the latters by just a matter of 25000 deaths.

OVERTIME: The Administrator and Demoman/Soldier Update

Hello there! This week I decided to create a new section in this blog. I once talked about Team Fortress 2, one of my favourite videogames, and I promised to continue talking about it. Well, now I will for sure, since it's going to be a whole section, titled OVERTIME.

Orthography on University posters

Hello there!

First of all, I have to apologise for being so late with this week's post. I also have to apologise because I'm not talking about what I promised. The reason is that I expected our Linguistics Professor to upload last class' powerpoint, and he didn't. So, the ducklings will be ready another week. [Insert sad emoticon here]

Instead of that, this week I'll talk about posters! Posters in the UJI, to be precise.

As I said in another post, I'm kind of a Grammar Nazi. In fact, I should, if I want to be a translator. So I have the obsessive craze of correcting all spelling mistakes I see on posters, notices, signs, even teachers' posts in forums!

Comeacrossness: The Transvestite Spartans on a Bike

Hello there! I'm back with another strange anecdote, related with strange people (why do I always find these folks?) at this strange section which is Comeacrossness.

I suppose I'm not very keen on parties or celebrations. I'm just a geek with my computers, my translations, my forums and my other geek stuff. Maybe that's the reason because of I just don't understand what the Hell was going on today at the UJI.

As I knew later, today there was some kind of party arranged by the students of Music Teaching, in which they have played their instruments and sung at the Agora. Nothing strange, up until now.

Just a usual University celebration... Or is it?

Then I saw them. There were three guys wearing what seemed a Spartan home-made costume, with their cardboard helmets, shields and swords, and their red 100% cotton cloaks.

And plastic boobs.

This Is the Last Day of my Life *

Tomorrow will be the last day of my life.

That's it. I can't stand anymore. All my teachers are sons of bitches, they have failed me on all my exams and I don't want to live like this, not anymore.

So tomorrow I'm going to finish with all. I'll get my father's hunting rifle and I'll kill them all. They will get what they deserve. Then I'll kill myself, because I don't wanna spend the rest of my life in prison.

So, that is all. See you in Hell, my beloved readers. Tomorrow you'll see me in the newspapers.

Comeacrossness: The Man who Walked Strangely

Hello again! Last week I couldn't write anything because I had loads of work. But today I'm back with something I promised on my last post.

You may know this famous Monty Python's gag, the Ministry of Silly Walks (if you don't you can watch it on youtube here). Yeah, it's a very funny sketch, but we don't usually think that someone actually walks like that. I didn't think either... since a couple of weeks ago.

Comeacrossness: The Forgotten Shop

Hi everybody!

I come from a small town (well, it's gradually getting bigger, but it is small compared with Castellón), so I find everything in Castellón extraordinarily big and complex. Almost everyday I come across something I hadn't seen before (specially weird people). That's why I've decided to start this new section, titled "Comeacrossness", where I'll explain these weird things that happen to me in the city.
In this first episode of Comeacrossness I want to tell a little anecdote. I was looking for a videogame store in Castellón, so I decided to search in Google Maps. I typed "tiendas de videojuegos Castellón" and took the first result. "Centro Email, Avda Rey Don Jaime 43". I memorized the adress and the next day I went to visit the shop.

OVERTIME: A brief introduction to Team Fortress 2

I promised myself to write at least one post a week, but I just don't know what to say today. It has been quite a lame week.
So... I could talk about some of my hobbies/interests/crazeness.

Some of you may know a videogame titled "Team Fortress 2". If you don't, don't worry. You don't like first-person shooters. It's OK. I'll explain it briefly.

Orthography on the Internet

Hello there!

Today I want to talk about a topic about which everybody who frequently uses Internet concerns or has concerned. It's the phenomenon known in my country as "Hoygan".

District 9

Hello everybody!

Finally, after a boring week I have something interesting to say. Today I went to the cinema and watched a film titled "District 9". This film, directed by Neil Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson, is an interesting one, because it's about racism, xenophobia and Apartheid, though the aparted ones in District 9 are... aliens!

New beginning

Hello everyone!

I've been told to create a blog for my English class, so here I am. I will introduce myself, in case you have ended here by chance and doesn't even know me.
